Obamacare Enrollments Are Surging
Nearly 1.5 million people have signed up for coverage in first two weeks.
So much for Obamacare being dead.
Despite repeated attempts by the Trump administration to sabotage the landmark health care program, Obamacare enrollments are surging.
In just the first two weeks of open enrollment, nearly 1.5 million people have signed up for health coverage. That is up from 1 million people at the same point last year.
The sign-up surge is significantly higher than experts had anticipated.
Real numbers are probably much higher
Importantly, the figures released do not include state-run health care exchanges which means the actual number of people who have signed up is actually even higher. The 1.5 million sign up figure comes from the 39 states that use the federal government’s HealthCare.gov program.
The other states, including California, run their own Obamacare exchanges and their sign up figures are not part of the 1.5 million sign-ups being reported.
Just over 75 percent of sign-ups are people renewing their plans, meaning that Obamacare is growing with about one-quarter of people signing up for new plans.
