Mueller’s Focusing On Kushner’s Communication With Foreign Leaders
A new report reveals Mueller is probing Jared Kushner’s foreign communications.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation is now focusing on White House adviser Jared Kushner’s contacts with foreign leaders during the presidential transition period, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The report notes that investigators are looking at Kushner’s role in a United Nations vote to condemn Israel for its settlement practices. During the transition, Israeli officials reportedly appealed to then president-elect Donald Trump to help block the resolution’s passage. Ultimately, it was approved after the U.S. abstained.
Trump later said the resolution was “extremely unfair to all Israelis.”
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Israeli officials reached out to several top Trump transition officials including Kushner and former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon.
Mueller’s team is now asking questions about those overtures.
Special Counsel investigators, according to the report, are also looking into Kushner’s role in setting up meetings and communication with foreign leaders during Trump’s transition.
Mueller also probing Kushner’s role in Comey firing
Special Counsel Mueller’s investigators are probing the first son-in-law’s role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey. It was reported earlier in the month that Kushner’s team has handed over documents to Mueller’s team.
In addition to his role in the Comey firing, Mueller’s investigators are probing Kushner’s business dealings and contacts with foreign officials.
