Jared Kushner Secretly Met With Special Counsel This Month: Report
Kushner met with Mueller’s team just before reports indicating that Flynn is cooperating with authorities.
The main topic of conversation: Michael Flynn.
It seems that Jared Kushner is at the heart of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Michael Flynn.
According to a new report by CNN, President Trump’s son in law Jared Kushner met secretly with Special Counsel investigators earlier in the month. The New York Times is also reporting that Mueller met with the Special Counsel.
And what was the main topic of conversation? Michael Flynn of course.
“Mueller’s team specifically asked Kushner about former national security advisor Michael Flynn, who is under investigation by the special counsel, two sources said. Flynn was the dominant topic of the conversation, one of the sources said,” CNN reported.
The news that Kushner spoke with the Special Counsel indicates that he is at the heart of Mueller’s investigation of Flynn and the likely obstruction of justice investigation into the president.
As CNN notes, “the meeting took place around the same time the special counsel asked witnesses about Kushner’s role in the firing of former FBI Director James Comey and his relationship with Flynn, these people said.”
And The New York Times reported that “The questions focused on a meeting between Mr. Kushner, the Russian ambassador and Michael Flynn, who at the time was the president’s incoming national security adviser, the person said on Wednesday.”
It is also important to note that the latest reporting indicates that Flynn is cooperating (or in the process of negotiating a cooperation agreement) with Special Counsel Mueller.
It is entirely plausible that Kushner’s meeting with the Special Counsel helped create the impetus for Flynn to start cooperating.
On Thanksgiving day it was revealed that Flynn’s attornies informed President Trump’s legal team that they would no longer be participating in their defense cooperation agreement sparking speculation that Flynn has flipped and has turned state’s witness.
Then Monday we learned that Flynn’s lawyer had a meeting with Mueller’s team further adding to the speculation that Flynn is a cooperating with the Special Counsel.
And today it was reported in an earlier story by CNN that grand jury testimony by Flynn business associates – another sign that Flynn has flipped.
