GOP Senator Accidentally Reveals What Republicans Really Think About The Middle Class
Iowa Senator says middle class would be rich too if they didn’t spend “every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women.”
Every once in a while politicians tell you exactly what they really think.
On Friday, in the dark of night, Republicans in the Senate passed their tax scam bill which will give massive tax cuts to the rich and raise taxes on the middle class – all while adding $1.5 trillion to the debt.
The GOP bill had all sorts of stuff in there for wealthy Americans, including a repeal of the estate tax – meaning that the richest Americans can leave their massive wealth to their families without any taxes further exacerbating the nation’s wealth gap.
Republicans have had a hard time answering questions about how repealing the estate tax will benefit the middle class. But none have had a harder time answering that question than Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley who told the Des Moines Register Saturday that the previous tax code favors poor and working-class Americans who were “just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.”
And in that brief statement, Grassley accidentally admitted exactly what Republicans think of the middle class.
