Trump’s Unqualified Judicial Nominee Withdraws After Viral Video
Matthew Peterson has withdrawn himself after failing to answer basic legal questions.
The Trump judicial nominee who couldn’t answer basic legal questions during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last week has withdrawn his nomination.
Matthew Petersen, who is currently a member of the Federal Election Commission, was selected by President Trump for a lifetime appointment to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. However, when his stunning lack of qualifications was put on display during his confirmation hearing he quickly became the face of Trump’s failure to “hire the best people.”
A video of the moment went viral after Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) tweeted out a video of Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) asking Peterson basic legal questions.
