Until now, Donald Trump has been Flynn’s biggest defender.
President Trump’s new strategy, now that his former national security adviser has reached a cooperation deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, is to call Michael Flynn a liar.
But there is a major flaw in Donald Trump’s strategy because until now, President Trump has been Michael Flynn’s biggest public defenders.
Trump has consistently praised Flynn, calling him a “good man.”
According to The Washington Post, if Michael Flynn accuses President Trump or any of Trump’s top associates of wrongdoing with Russia, Trump’s lawyers are planning to attack Flynn’s credibility.
But it is Trump’s credibility that is in question. Trump has been the lone public supporter of Flynn, even after his firing in February.
As part of his plea deal, Flynn has agreed to fully cooperate with Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation into coordination between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign.
Flynn is the first Trump administration official to be charged in Mueller’s investigation.
