Jeff Sessions Sought Dirt On James Comey Before Firing: Report
Very likely that Jeff Sessions will get caught up in Special Counsel Mueller’s obstruction of justice investigation.
It’s not just President Trump who is likely to be charged with obstruction of justice.
According to a new report by The New York Times, Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent an aide to ask a Capitol Hill staffer if they had any damaging information about former FBI Director James Comey just days before President Trump fired him.
In the days following James Comey’s May testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, an aide to Sessions asked a congressional staff member whether they had information on Comey that could be damaging.
The purpose of seeking damaging information about Comey was reportedly in an attempt to undermine Comey.
According to the New York Times, Sessions wanted to see a negative article about Comey every day in the press.
The report that Sessions sought damaging information about James Comey was part of a larger bombshell New York Times report that detailed substantial new reporting about the case for obstruction of justice against President Trump.
And, based on The New York Times reporting, it seems likely that Attorney General Jeff Sessions will also get caught up in Mueller’s obstruction probe.
