Yet Another Senior Republican Congressman Calls It Quits
Seems like Republicans see a blue wave coming.
Republican Gregg Harper, the chairman of the House Administration Committee, will not seek re-election.
Another Republican has decided not to run for re-election.
Republican Congressman Gregg Harper, the chairman of the House Administration Committee, announced Thursday that he will retire at the end of this year.
Harper joins a growing list of Republicans who have decided not to seek reelection.
Harper’s announcement marks the sixth member of the House GOP leadership to decide to leave Congress instead of run for re-election.
Harper made the announcement via press release Thursday morning.

He also gave a quote to a Mississipi newspaper:
“The opportunity to serve the people of the 3rd District, our state, and our country is something that my wife, Sidney, and I will never forget. We have been contemplating for almost two years when it would be our time not to run again, and after spending time over Christmas and New Year’s with my family, we made the very difficult decision to say that 10 years will be long enough. I never intended for this to be a career, and it will soon be time for another conservative citizen legislator to represent us,” Harper said in a statement to the Clarion-Ledger.
