Another Key Claim Of GOP Memo Just Got Debunked
FISA judge was informed of source’s political funding in FISA application proving GOP claim is false.
Another key claim of the Republican memo just got debunked by a new report in the Washington Post.
Devin Nunes and Republicans claimed that the FBI didn’t disclose that the Steele dossier was paid for by a partisan source in their FISA warrant application.
Well, it turns out that they did, in fact, inform the FISA court of just that.
According to a new report in the Washington Post, the Justice Department told the court of the political origins of an opposition research dossier that formed part of the application for a warrant to surveil former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
The Washington Post report noted that Justice Department officials made “ample disclosure of relevant, material facts” to the FISA court that a political entity provided financial backing for the research.
The report contradicts another central argument of the GOP memo, that the FISA application didn’t disclose the research was paid for by a political opposition research organization.
