Trump lawyers to Trump: Run from Mueller!
President Trump’s lawyers have advised him to decline an interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, according to a report by The New York Times.
Trump’s lawyers are reportedly concerned that he will lie to the Mueller and be charged with perjury.
And as The New York Times notes, “Refusing to sit for an interview opens the possibility that Mr. Mueller will subpoena the president to testify before a grand jury.”
Trump has repeatedly said he would sit for an interview with Special Counsel Mueller. In fact, he has bragged that he would do it under oath.
If Trump declines the interview with the Special Counsel, Mueller will almost certainly subpoena him to testify before a grand jury likely setting up a legal battle that could quickly make its way to the Supreme Court.
