FACT CHECK: Rasmussen Poll Trump Tweeted Doesn’t Have Him ‘Around 50%’
Trump tweeted bragging about a poll saying it found “around 50%” approve of him – that’s just the beginning of the falsehoods.
Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday to brag about a new poll that showed he has an approval rating of “around 50%.” The only problem with that is that there is nothing true about that claim.
The poll, by conservative-leaning Rasmussen, does not have him “around 50%,” far from it. And that’s not the only problem with Trump’s tweet.
Rasmussen and others have my approval ratings at around 50%, which is higher than Obama, and yet the political pundits love saying my approval ratings are “somewhat low.” They know they are lying when they say it. Turn off the show – FAKE NEWS!

Here are the facts:
Trump Claim #1 – His approval rating is around 50 percent
The Rasmussen poll found that Trump’s approval rating is just 44 percent – not around 50 percent. The Rasmusen result tracks with the Real Clear Politics average of 40 percent for Trump’s approval rating.
The poll also found that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s job performance.
Trump Claim #2 – His approval is higher than Obama’s
In the same tweet, Trump also claimed that his approval rating is higher than President Obama’s. Again, this is false. Obama’s approval rating at the same point in his presidency was 48.5 percent, significantly higher than Trump’s 40 percent in the RCP average or the more generous 44 percent in the Rasmussen poll.
