Judge Warns Paul Manafort He Could Spend ‘Rest Of Life In Prison’

Manafort “faces the very real possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison.”

The pressure is on Paul Manafort to make a deal. Based solely on the crimes he is currently charged with, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

In fact, that is exactly what a judge just warned.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III, who has been assigned the newly filed indictments against Manafort, warned: “Given the nature of the charges against the defendant and the apparent weight of the evidence against him, defendant faces the very real possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison.”

Judge Ellis also ordered Manafort remain in home incarceration because he poses a flight risk.

“The defendant is a person of great wealth who has the financial means and international connections to flee and remain at large, as well as every incentive to do so,” Ellis wrote.

The judge’s order puts Manafort on “24-hour-a-day lockdown” in his Alexandria, Virginia home.
