SCOTUS Denies GOP Attempt To Bring Back Pennsylvania Gerrymander Map
Republicans appealed their gerrymander loss to the Supreme Court, but the high court wasn’t having it.
The Supreme Court on Monday denied a Republican effort to block the new Pennsylvania Congressional district map.
As a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling, the newly drawn map, drawn by Pennsylvania’s supreme court, will be in effect for the upcoming 2018 midterm elections.
Republicans have aggressively attempted to overturn the new map which eliminates some of the most extreme gerrymandering in the country put in place by Republicans.
It is expected that Democrats will pick up about 3 to 5 new House seats because of the new fairer map.
“The application for stay presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the court is denied,” the Supreme Court said.
