Democrat Leads Tennessee Senate Race By Ten Points: Poll
New poll shows Democrats have an opportunity to pick up a Senate seat in deep red Tennessee.
We just got another sign that there is a massive blue wave building.
A new poll released Thursday found that former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen (D) now has a 10-point lead over GOP Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn in the race to replace Senator Bob Corker (R), who is retiring.
According to the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) poll, 45 percent of respondents said they would vote for Bredesen if the race were held today, compared to just 35 percent who said they’d vote for Blackburn.
Notably, Bredesen is getting substantial support from both independents and Republicans.
According to the survey, Bredesen is getting support from 45 percent of independents and 33 percent of Republicans, while just 5 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Blackburn.
The poll also found that 17 percent said they are undecided.
The 10 point lead that Democrats have in the traditionally Republican stronghold is another sign that Democrats may be able to take back control of both the House and Senate in 2018.
About the poll: The MTSU survey, conducted via cellphones and landlines from March 22 to 29, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
