FBI Has Secret Recording Of Trump Talking About Hush Money To Playmate
Michael Cohen secretly recorded a conversation he had with Donald Trump two months before the election where the two discussed hush money payments to a Playboy playmate.
The FBI is in possession of a secret audio recording of Donald Trump discussing a hush money payment to a playboy playmate during the election.
Trump’s business partner and fixer Michael Cohen secretly taped the conversation with Trump in the months before the 2016 election.
And according to an explosive new report by The New York Times, the FBI now has the tape.
The recording was collected by the FBI during their raid on Cohen’s home and office earlier in the year.
According to The New York Times, “The Justice Department is investigating Mr. Cohen’s involvement in paying women to tamp down embarrassing news stories about Mr. Trump ahead of the 2016 election. Prosecutors want to know whether that violated federal campaign finance laws, and any conversation with Mr. Trump about those payments would be of keen interest to them.”
In the tape, Trump discusses making a payment to Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model who had a year-long affair with Trump starting in 2006.
The conversation took place two months ahead of the 2016 election making the payment a likely campaign finance violation.
“The recording’s existence further draws Mr. Trump into questions about tactics he and his associates used to keep aspects of his personal and business life a secret. And it highlights the potential legal and political danger that Mr. Cohen represents to Mr. Trump. Once the keeper of many of Mr. Trump’s secrets, Mr. Cohen is now seen as increasingly willing to consider cooperating with prosecutors,” The New York Times report went on to say.
Ultimately, an ally of Trump’s at the National Enquirer made the payment to the Playboy model.
