Michelle Obama Announces Voter Registration Drive (Video)
The former first lady will hit the road for a week to register voters across the country.
“There’s too much at stake to sit on the sidelines, not just in this election but in every election, and we need your help right now,” Obama said in a new video.
Former first lady Michelle Obama on Monday announced that she will travel across the country to register voters ahead of the 2018 midterms.
The effort is being organized by When We All Vote, a nonprofit organization that Obama co-chairs. The first lady’s cross-country tour will take place across a week in late September.
In the video, Obama notes that the voting drive is also meant to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act.
“Today we want to honor their legacy and continue their work to ensure that every eligible American casts their vote, work that is far from finished,” Obama said.
“There’s too much at stake to sit on the sidelines, not just in this election but in every election, and we need your help right now,” she added.
