Kamala Harris on legalizing weed: “Half my family is from Jamaica, are you kidding me?”
On Monday, 2020 hopeful and California Senator Kamala Harris confirmed that she strongly supports legalizing marijuana. Harris told the hosts of the New York City radio show “The Breakfast Club” that the rumors that she didn’t support legalization were completely false.

“That’s not true,” Harris told show host Charlamagne Tha God. “Half my family is from Jamaica, are you kidding me?”
Harris also said, “I think it gives a lot of people joy, We need more joy in the world.”
Senator Harris also confirmed that she has smoked pot and even threw a barb at former President Clinton who claimed not to inhale saying “and I inhaled.”
However, Harris does have a mixed record on pot.
As BuzzFeed noted, in 2010 when Harris was district attorney of San Francisco she opposed Proposition 19, which would have made California the first state to legalize marijuana.
