Trump’s Attorney Sent Letter to Investigators About ‘Golden Shower’ Dossier

Two weeks ago, Donald Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen sent Congress a point-by-point rebuttal of the “golden shower” dossier alleging that he has deep ties to Russian officials.

And now, The Daily Beast has obtained the full letter.

It’s clear in the letter that Cohen was hoping to clear his name in the Russia investigation.

The letter told the House intelligence committee that it should “discern and publicly disclose” the financing and motivations of the salacious dossier.

Additionally, it suggests that this dossier influenced the election.

“It should consider whether the Dossier was intended to and did impact the election by making totally false allegations about Mr. Cohen and others,” the letter reads.

Cohen’s letter is focused on getting himself off the hook, not Trump. Despite calling the document “libelous” and saying “any repetition of its allegations by the Committee should be rejected,” Cohen’s letter repeats several of its claims.

One of the points in the dossier alleges that Cohen met with the Russian government “in an EU country in August 2016” for a damage-control discussion.

Cohen claims it is entirely false, but does not issue a denial of visiting EU countries in 2016, though elsewhere in his letter, he cites his passport to knock down the claim of visiting Prague at any point in time.

However, Cohen still won’t testify in front of Congress. The letter reads, “We do not believe that an interview or testimony concerning these allegations is warranted.”
