Trump’s Approval Rating Hits Record Low In Monmouth Poll
Donald Trump remains historically unpopular, a new poll finds.
Donald Trump’s job approval rating has hit a record low in the Monmouth University Poll.
Just 32 percent of Americans approve of the job Donald Trump is doing, the lowest mark since Trump took office.
At the same time, Trump’s disapproval rating stands at a whopping 56 percent.
“This result is not good for the president, especially coming off the loss of his endorsed candidate in the Alabama Senate race. Republicans have to be worried about being dragged down by the weight of Trump’s negatives in 2018 if this trend continues,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
In previous Monmouth polls, Trump’s approval rating ranged between 39 and 43 percent meaning Trump’s current approval rating of 32 percent represents a significant drop in job approval for Trump.
The poll found that Trump’s slide in job approval has largely come from women.
“The decline in Trump’s job rating has come much more from women – currently 24% approve to 68% disapprove – than from men – currently 40% to 44%. In September, Trump had a 36%-55% rating among women and a 44%-42% rating among men,” Monmouth noted.
About the poll: The Monmouth University Poll was conducted by telephone from December 10 to 12, 2017 with 806 adults in the United States. The results in this release have a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.
