Cambridge Analytica Received Documents Request From Mueller: Report
The Special Counsel wants emails from the Trump campaign’s data firm.
Mueller is moving in on the Trump campaign.
According to a new report, the Special Counsel has sent the Trump campaign’s data firm, Cambridge Analytica, a documents request for emails and other communications related to the Russia investigation.
The move is the latest sign that Mueller is moving swiftly against members of Trump’s former campaign team.
“Special Counsel Robert Mueller has requested that Cambridge Analytica, a data firm that worked for President Donald Trump’s campaign, turn over documents as part of its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election, according to people familiar with the matter,” The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
The request from the Special Counsel was for all emails from employees at the firm who worked with the campaign.
Cambridge Analytica has been at the nexus of the Trump campaign’s Russia connections. It was previously reported that the CEO of the firm had been in contact with top Trump donor Rebekah Mercer about better organizing emails being released by WikiLeaks.
Reporting confirmed that Cambridge Analytica was attempting to obtain the 33,000 emails deleted from Clinton’s private server used during her time leading the State Department.
Mueller has already indicted two Trump campaign officials – Paul Manafort and Rick Gates. And achieved guilty pleas and cooperation deals with two others – Mike Flynn and George Papadopoulos.
