Democrat Wins Virginia Recount, Flipping House of Delegates
Democrats just won control of the Virginia House of Delegates.
Democrats appear to have won control of the House of Delegates after a recount resulted in a Democratic candidate beating the incumbent Republican by a single vote.
The recount was held in Virginia’s 94th District and found that Democratic candidate Shelly Simonds won the November 7 election by just one vote.

The initial election night results showed Republican incumbent David Yancey winning by 10 votes, but that margin was erased in the recount, according to The Virginian Pilot.
The votes are considered “unofficial” until certified by a judge.
The Pilot reports that a judge is set to consider the recount results tomorrow.
With the Democratic win in Virginia’s 94th District, the House of Delegates will be split at 50-50, erasing Republicans’ slim 51-49 margin after the November elections.
