Democrats Expand Their 2018 Advantage: Poll
Another poll confirms there is a blue wave building.
Democrats have a massive advantage going into the 2018 election, a new poll finds.
According to the new CNN poll, Democrats have a whopping 18 point generic ballot lead in the 2018 midterms.
The poll found that 56 percent of registered voters say they want a Democrat to represent their Congressional district, while just 38 percent favor a Republican.
The results of the CNN poll follow several other polls that also found a double-digit lead for Democrats in the 2018 generic ballot.
Democrats have a massive lead among independents
Among independent voters, 51 percent say they prefer a Democrat compared just 35 percent who prefer a Republican.
As CNN notes, the margin mirrors polling numbers in 2005 just before Democrats took back the House and Senate in 2006.
Democrats have a massive enthusiasm advantage
The CNN poll also found that Democrats have a massive advantage in voter enthusiasm going into 2018.
“Overall, 49% of registered voters who are Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents say they are extremely or very enthusiastic about voting for Congress next year, compared with 32% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independent voters who say the same,” CNN notes.
About the poll: The CNN Poll was conducted by SSRS December 14-17 among a random national sample of 1,001 adults reached on landlines or cellphones by a live interviewer. Results for the full sample have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points, it is larger for subgroups.
