Court Tosses Out One Vote Democrat Win In Virginia
The race will now be decided by coin toss.
Democrats may not flip the Virgina House of Delegates after all. Or at least their chances of flipping it will come down to the flip of a coin.
On Wednesday, a three-judge panel in Virginia declared the election a tie and allowed a “questionable” ballot to be counted for the Republican.
Now that the race is tied, the outcome will be decided by a coin toss.
According to the Washington Post, “a three-judge panel declined to certify the recount of a key House race today, saying that a questionable ballot should be counted in favor of the Republican.”
“The court declares there is no winner in this election,” Circuit Court Judge Bryant L. Sugg said.
“In the case of a tie in a House race,” the report continues, “state law says the winner is chosen by lot – essentially, a coin toss, according to Virginia state law.”
On Tuesday a recount left the Democrat with a one-vote lead in the race.
