Astronaut Mark Kelly Just Destroyed Trump For Taking Credit For Zero Airline Deaths

If Trump wants credit for zero airline deaths, he should also take credit for 10,000 gun deaths, husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords said.

Donald Trump tried to take credit for America’s unprecedented airline safety Tuesday ( a trend that far predates Trump’s presidency).

Retired astronaut Mark Kelly, whose wife Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head in 2011, said that President Trump should be willing to take responsibility for the tens of thousands of gun deaths across the country in 2017 if he wants credit for the zero airline deaths.

Kelly, in a tweet, said that the Transportation Department, the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA and commercial airlines were largely responsible for the industry’s safety record in 2017 – not Trump.

“Actually, it’s USDOT, FAANews, & NASA —and especially the airlines— who deserve credit for this,” Kelly tweeted. “But, if you’re going to take credit for zero airline deaths in 2017 then you should take responsibility for the tens of thousands of gun deaths, too.”

Kelly and his wife, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, have emerged as leading advocates for sensible gun control to curb the country’s epidemic of gun violence.
