FBI Director And Deputy Attorney General Just Met Privately With Paul Ryan

There is something big looming in the Trump-Russia investigation.

Speculation about the Russia investigation is swirling after confirmed reports that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray met privately with Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday

The meeting was reportedly requested by the top law enforcement officials.

An ABC News reporter notes that the reason for the meeting could be Devin Nunes’s subpoena for documents relating to the Russia investigation.

It’s possible that the Deputy Attorney General and the FBI Director asked to meet with Ryan to brief him on why they won’t hand over the documents Nunes wants. Nunes set today, Wednesday, January 3 as the deadline for receiving the documents he wants. It’s important to note that Nunes was forced to recuse himself from the Russia investigation after it was revealed that he was coordinating with the Trump White House to attack the investigation. He has since attempted several times to undermine the investigation.

It’s also possible that they were briefing the Speaker on an unrelated matter like new indictments that are coming.

Rachel Maddow also reported later Wednesday that the meeting was related to the subpoena from Devin Nunes. “Surprise meeting tonight between Deputy Atty General Rod Rosenstein and House Speaker Paul Ryan was requested by Rosenstein to discuss matters related to Congressman Devin Nunes and the Russia investigation,” Maddow said in a tweet.

UPDATE: Rachel Maddow reported on her show that the Justice Department did not hand over any documents to Devin Nunes and confirmed the meeting with Paul Ryan was specifically about the Nunes subpoena.
