Congressman Named In Gates’ Guilty Plea Is Republican Dana Rohrabacher

Republican Congressman known to be friendly with Moscow was mentioned in the Rick Gates guilty plea deal.

Surprise, surprise. Turns out the unnamed Congressman mentioned in the Rick Gates plea deal today is none other than Republican Dana Rohrabacher.

As part of his cooperation agreement, Gates admitted to lying about a March 19, 2013, meeting between by Paul Manafort, a lobbyist and member of Congress. Gates told Special Counsel investigators that Ukraine had not been discussed. Turns out it very much was discussed and that Gates was lying.

Remember that Manafort and Gates work for pro-Russian forces in Ukraine so when Ukraine comes up in the Trump-Russia investigation it’s always a proxy for Russia.

And now NBC News has confirmed that the Congressman in that meeting is Congressman Kremlin himself, Dana Rohrabacher. “The lawmaker who attended was Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., his office confirmed. Rohrabacher’s press secretary said it was a dinner with longtime acquaintances where “the three reminisced and talked mostly about politics,” according to NBC.

Rohrabacher has a long history of close ties to Moscow and has drawn speculation of being compromised because of his bizarrely pro-Russia policy positions.
