Mueller Putting Off Obstruction, Investigating Additional Crimes: Report
Special Counsel has a lot more to investigate before wrapping up the Russia probe.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller is putting off the obstruction of justice portion of his investigation into President Trump to investigate additional crimes, a new report reveals.
According to Bloomberg, Mueller will move forward looking into additional lines of inquiry about potential crimes by President Trump and his associates and circle back to obstruction of justice when he is ready to complete the investigation.
The reason for putting off the obstruction portion is that President Trump is likely to become “less cooperative” once during that portion of probe.
“That’s because Mueller may calculate that if he tries to bring charges in the obstruction case — the part that may hit closest to Trump personally — witnesses may become less cooperative in other parts of the probe, or the president may move to shut it down altogether,” Bloomberg reported.
Putting aside the obstruction investigation will allow Mueller’s investigators to look into additional crimes.
