McCabe Gave Special Counsel Mueller A Copy Of His Notes: Report
Mueller has former FBI Director McCabe’s notes on interactions with President Trump.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller is in possession of memos written contemporaneously by FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe about his interactions with President Trump.
McCabe kept detailed notes both about his own interactions with Trump and about what former FBI Director James Comey told him about his own interactions with the president.
A copy of those notes has been handed over to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigators.
Mueller is investigating President Trump for collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice.
McCabe’s memos along with James Comey’s are likely to substantiate Trump’s attempts to obstruct the Special Counsel investigation.
McCabe was fired late Friday night with just two days remaining before his retirement after months of public attacks by President Trump.
McCabe released a statement in response saying his firing was politically motivated and intended to discredit the Special Counsel investigation and his connection to it.
“This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally,” McCabe said in a statement.
“It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day.”
