Trump Has Hired Conspiracy Theorist To Join His Legal Team: Report

Joseph E. diGenova has promoted the false theory that the FBI framed Trump. Trump just hired him to join his legal team.

President Trump just hired a new lawyer to help bolster his legal team. And in true Trump fashion, the lawyer has a long track record of crackpot conspiracy theories.

Trump hired Joseph E. diGenova who is known for among other things, promoting a false conspiracy theory that the FBI and Justice Department created the Russia investigation to keep Trump from becoming president.

“There was a brazen plot to illegally exonerate Hillary Clinton and, if she didn’t win the election, to then frame Donald Trump with a falsely created crime,” he said on Fox News in January.

“Make no mistake about it: A group of F.B.I. and D.O.J. people were trying to frame Donald Trump of a falsely created crime.”

Yep. That’s the kind of crazy that just got added to the president’s legal defense team and it’s likely to mean more wacky attacks on the Special Counsel investigation.

The hire is the latest sign that Trump plans to increase his attacks on investigators and attempt to undermine the credibility of the investigators using false conspiracy theories.
