WATCH: Robert Reich On Real Reason Trump & GOP Want To Repeal Obamacare
Former Labor Secretary and current explainer of complex things Robert Reich, took to Facebook with a new video that lays out the real reason why Donald Trump and the Republicans want to repeal Obamacare.
Reich lays out the key details saying that first, 32 million will lose their health coverage as a consequence of an Obamacare repeal.
Next, Reich gets to the heart of the Republican agenda, repealing Obamacare will have a giant tax cut the richest Americans while increasing the cost of living for middle-class Americans.
According to Reich, the top 1% would get an average tax break of $33,000 per year if Obamacare is repealed. And the top 1/10 of 1%? They would get a $197,000 tax break.
And the richest 400 families in the United States would receive $7 million a year in tax cuts.
The Obamacare repeal would also increase taxes on people making between $10,000 and $75,000.
And what does all this leave us with? Well as Reich lays out:
- 32 million losing their health coverage
- 20k+ dying because of a lack of health coverage
- Medicare in worse shape
- And the rich becoming far richer
“This is lunacy,” Reich ends with. “We must stand up to it.”
