Republican Senator: We Will Ask Mike Flynn To Testify Before Senate Intel Committee
Senator Susan Collins of Maine said on Wednesday that former national security adviser Michael Flynn should testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee about his communications with Russian officials.
Collins who is a member of the Intelligence Committee said, “I am going to request, and many of the members will, that we call Mike Flynn to testify.”
“We’re not going to exclude anyone from our review, and it will be thorough, accurate, bipartisan and in-depth,” Collins went on to say.
Flynn resigned after it was revealed that he had lied about inappropriate conversations with the Russian ambassador at the same time President Obama was placing additional sanctions on Russia for interfering in the U.S. election.
Since Flynn’s resignation, the New York Times has reported that multiple members of the Trump inner circle were in “constant” contact with Russian intelligence officials during the campaign. The FBI and counterintelligence officials are reportedly investigating the connection between Trump and the Russian intelligence officials and whether they coordinated the interference in the 2016 election.
It was also reported by the Times and the Washington Post that Trump associates were involved in a secret plan to lift sanctions on Russia in a deal that would have left Russia with the invaded territories that led to sanctions in the first place.
