Russian Bank Confirms Meeting With Jared Kushner
The Russian state bank Vnesheconombank on Monday confirmed a meeting between Jared Kushner and its chairman. The bank characterized the meeting as part of “road show” discussions.
The Trump administration said that Kushner was simply doing his job by holding this meeting, but President Obama sanctioned this bank in 2014.
On Monday, Kushner agreed to be questioned by the Senate intelligence committee, which is investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
“Senate investigators plan to question Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a close adviser, as part of their broad inquiry into ties between Trump associates and Russian officials or others linked to the Kremlin, according to administration and congressional officials,” the New York Times reported Monday morning.
Jared Kushner is the fourth Trump associate to offer to be interviewed by the congressional committees – Paul Manafort, Carter Page and Roger Stone all agreed to speak with the committee last week.
Last week, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that the FBI is investigating collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian agents who interfered with the 2016 election.
