Oklahoma Bar Association Investigating Trump EPA Director
Trump EPA Director lied to the Senate about using a private email account to conduct state business as Attorney General of Oklahoma.
With all the scandal and chaos of the Trump administration, it can be hard to keep track of some of the smaller Trump scandals. And one example of this is the ethics investigation that is currently underway by the Oklahoma Bar Association into Scott Pruitt’s email use.
The Oklahoma Bar Association is currently investigating an ethics complaint that alleges that Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, lied during his Senate confirmation hearing about the use of a private email account to conduct state business while he was Attorney General of Oklahoma.
The complaint was filed by University of Oklahoma law professor Kristen Van de Biezenbos and the Center for Biological Diversity. The ethics complaint alleges that Pruitt lied to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee by saying that he never used a private email account to conduct official state business as Oklahoma Attorney General.
The ethics probe was initially reported by KSWO in Oklahoma saying, “it has since come to light that Pruitt did use his personal email to conduct state business.”
A public records request found that Pruitt had, in fact, used his private email account for state business and complaint against Pruitt noted “It appears that Mr. Pruitt misrepresented material facts that bore on the Senate committee’s analysis of Mr. Pruitt’s fitness to serve as EPA Administrator.”
