Flynn Was Warned About Accepting Foreign Payments In 2014: Report

The Defense Department has launched an investigation into Donald Trump’s former national security adviser after he was warned not to accept payments from foreign governments. 

It was revealed on Thursday that Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn was warned by the Pentagon against accepting foreign payments in 2014, according to new documents that were released by the House Oversight Committee.

Additionally, according to another document released by committee Democrats, the Defense Intelligence Agency’s inspector general has launched an investigation into Michael Flynn’s accepting of payments from foreign governments.

According to the 2014 letter to Flynn from the Defense Intelligence Agency Flynn was advised that it is illegal for former military officers to accept payments from a foreign government.

The letter said, “Accordingly, if you are ever in a position where you would receive an emolument from a foreign government or from an entity that might be controlled by a foreign government, be sure to obtain advance approval from the Army prior to acceptance.”

In December of 2015, Michael Flynn was paid $45,000 to speak at a dinner hosted Russian state television network RT, where he dining with Vladimir Putin.

It has also been revealed that the $600,000 that Flynn was paid by a Turkish government-linked organization is actually a Russian front group.

Congressman Elijah Cummings said in a statement “These documents raise grave questions about why General Flynn concealed the payments he received from foreign sources after he was warned explicitly by the Pentagon.”
