Trump Contradicts Own White House On Comey, Admits Asking If He Was Under Investigation
President admits he asked the FBI Director about the status of the investigation against him.
During a new interview with NBC News host Lester Holt, Donald Trump admitted that he asked former FBI Director if he was under investigation during a dinner when they were discussing whether Comey would stay on as FBI Director.
Questions have already been raised about the appropriateness of the president asking the FBI Director if he is under investigation but Trump’s admission that he asked Comey during a conversation about whether he could stay on as Director of the FBI is far worse.
Trump also contradicted his own White House’s repeated explanation for how the Comey firing came together. The White House has repeatedly said that Trump decided to fire Comey after receiving a recommendation from the Deputy Attorney General. However, multiple news reports and now Donald Trump himself have revealed that in fact, Trump had planned on firing Comey all along and simply asked his Justice Department to put together the case.
During the interview, Donald Trump also admitted that he planned to fire the FBI Director “regardless of recommendations,” which again contradicts the White House line.

Vice President caught lying again.
Also important to note that on Wednesday Vice President Mike Pence emphatically said that Trump made the decision to fire Comey after receiving the recommendation of the Deputy Attorney General.
