VoteVets Slams Trump Budget As Most Anti-Veteran, Anti-Military-Family Budget Ever

Veterans organization VoteVets issued a scathing statement blasting Donald Trump’s proposed budget calling the “most anti-veteran” ever proposed by any president.

“We have seen some bad budgets for veterans and military families in the past, but the Trump budget – hands down – is the most anti-veteran, anti-military-family budget that any White House has ever released,” the statement said.

VoteVets has continued to be a strong critic of Donald Trump, highlighting every time Trump’s rhetoric about veterans doesn’t match his actions.

The statement went on to say that the Trump budget “represents a series of monumental lies to Americans and Trump voters, as it goes back on Donald Trump’s promises during the campaign, by sacrificing veterans and military families to feed the swamp of corporate elites.”

Donald Trump’s budget calls for an $800 billion cut in Medicaid and as VoteVets points out – 1 out of 10 veterans is on Medicaid.

Trump’s budget also calls for a $192 billion cut in nutrition assistance (food stamps) – about 2 million veterans and their families rely on nutrition assistance.

“This budget endangers the health care of millions of veterans most in need, by crippling Medicaid, despite promises he wouldn’t cut it. It rips food from the mouths of millions more veterans and their families, by taking an ax to their food assistance. This budget goes out of its way to sentence nearly half of veterans on disability to a life of poverty,” the statement went on to say.

VoteVets also took issue with Trump’s values saying, “It says a lot about who Donald Trump values, when he is willing to take from veterans, to feed the swamp monsters.”
