Donald Trump wants to revamp the CIA
The news story creates major concerns about the motivations Trump has for wanting to restructure the CIA because he has seemed so unwilling to accept the analysis of the intelligence community – especially when he thinks the analysis undermines his presidency.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Trump “is working with top advisers on a plan that would restructure and pare back the nation’s top spy agency, people familiar with the planning said. The move is prompted by his belief that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has become bloated and politicized, these people said.”
If they aren’t saying what you want to hear, find someone else who will
Donald Trump has spent an inordinate amount of time recently attacking and leveling criticism the U.S. intelligence community often siding with Russia or Jullian Assange. So his plan to revamp the CIA raises alarms for those wondering what his motivations are for the restructure.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “one of the people familiar with Mr. Trump’s planning said advisers also are working on a plan to restructure the Central Intelligence Agency, cutting back on staffing at its Virginia headquarters and pushing more people out into field posts around the world. The CIA declined to comment.”

The Journal report continues by quoting a source close to the Trump transition, “The view from the Trump team is the intelligence world has become completely politicized. They all need to be slimmed down. The focus will be on restructuring the agencies and how they interact.”
In a bizarre set of tweets over the last few days, Donald Trump has referenced an interview with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange where Assange denied the that Russia was responsible for the hacking of the DNC and email account of Clinton advisor John Podesta. Trump’s tweet said, “Julian Assange said ‘a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta’—why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info!”
Trump obsessed with denying Russia hack
According to the Wall Street Journal analysis, “since the November election, Mr. Trump has published close to 250 Twitter posts. Of those, 11 have focused on Russia or the election-related cyberattacks. In each of those tweets, Mr. Trump either has praised Russian President Vladimir Putin—last month calling him “very smart”—or disparaged the investigation into the hacks.”
