Donald Trump Is Being Investigated For Obstruction Of Justice By Special Counsel Mueller

A new report confirms that Donald Trump is being investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for obstruction of justice.

The Washington Post reports, “The special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election is interviewing senior intelligence officials as part of a widening probe that now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice, officials said.”

The news that Donald Trump is under investigation for obstructing justice comes after former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony that Donald Trump pushed him to drop the investigation into Michael Flynn.

According to the report, while Trump himself was not officially under investigation while Comey was leading the FBI, after the firing of the FBI Director that changed.

The Washington Post report went on to say, “The move by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s own conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.”

In addition to obstructions charges, federal investigators are also probing financial crimes by Trump associates.

Special Counsel Mueller is pursuing witnesses both inside the government and outside the government.

According to previous reports, Donald Trump asked two senior national security officials, Director of National Intelligence and Director of the National Security Agency Daniel Coats, to step in to stop the FBI’s investigation.

The Washington Post notes that Special Counsel Mueller is interested in a meeting between Trump and Coats.

According to reports, Coats was at the White House for a briefing with other senior officials and after the meeting ended “Trump asked everyone to leave the room except for Coats and CIA Director Mike Pompeo.”

Coats later told people that Donald Trump asked him to intervene with James Comey to get the FBI to back off its investigation.

A statement by Donald Trump’s legal team blasted the leak of information but didn’t deny the investigation.
