Donald Trump’s pick for Attorney General Jeff Sessions failed to disclose oil and land interests in his home state of Alabama, according to reporting from the Washington Post.
The Washington Post piece noted that Jeff Sessions was “required by federal ethics rules” to disclose his ownership of these oil and land interests.
The report comes just hours before Republicans plan to rush Jeff Sessions and other Trump picks through Senate confirmation hearings.
The Post went on to write, “The Alabama records show that Sessions owns subsurface rights to oil and other minerals on more than 600 acres in his home state, some of which are adjacent to a federal wildlife preserve…But the interests were not disclosed on forms sent by Sessions to the Office of Government Ethics, which reviews the assets of Cabinet nominees for potential conflicts of interest.”

Democrats and others are trying to raise alarms about Republicans effort ram Trump’s cabinet picks through Senate confirmation hearings without proper ethics and other disclosure reviews.
The Washington Post piece also quoted two Democrats on the matter:
“I am troubled by any omissions,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), a member of the Judiciary Committee. “But this is particularly troubling because this ownership interest involves oil and gas holdings connected to a federal wildlife refuge.”
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the committee’s ranking Democrat, said, “If Senator Sessions failed to disclose all of his financial information this is a serious matter.”
