Hamilton Star Lin-Manuel Miranda Just Released New ‘Immigrants’ Music Video
“Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda just released a music video titled “Immigrants” featuring verses from immigrant rappers and footage of fictional Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation raids.
Miranda described the track on Genius as a “musical counterweight” to the “xenophobia and vilification of immigrants” in U.S. politics.
“This election cycle has brought xenophobia and vilification of immigrants back to the forefront of US politics. This is a musical counterweight,” Miranda wrote.
“Each MC culturally represents from a different place on the map.”
“These are my favorite MCs from all over the world,” Miranda continued. “They can speak to this theme from their brilliant perspectives.”
The music video features rappers K’naan, Residente and Snow Tha Product, as well as actor Riz Ahmed from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
