Senator Bernie Sanders on Sunday said he will introduce his “Medicare for All” proposal after the Senate completes its debate on Obamacare.

“We are going to introduce it literally as soon as we’re through with this debate. I don’t want to confuse the two issues,” Sanders told CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Sanders’s announcement comes as Republicans are attempting to get their plan to repeal Obamacare back on track after the CBO announced it would lead to 22 million people losing health insurance.

Sanders has been a longstanding supporter of universal health care or Medicare for all.

Sanders said that short term, lawmakers should lower the Medicare eligibility age to 55.

“Longer term, we need a Medicare for all,” Sanders told host Jake Tapper.
