Trump Still Having Trouble Hiring Lawyers To Defend Him In Russia Case: Report

According to a new report by The New York Times, Washington’s most high-profile attorneys are reluctant to join Donald Trump’s legal team in the Russia case.

The veteran lawyers are concerned about having to defend Donald Trump because he regularly refuses to follow legal advice.

The report notes that Brendan Sullivan, the lawyer who defended Oliver North in the wake of the Iran-Contra Affair, has reportedly declined an offer to represent Donald Trump.

Additionally, Ted Olson, the former U.S. solicitor general who defended Jonathan Pollard – the spy convicted of providing U.S. government secrets to Israel – has also declined to represent Trump.

The New York Times quotes attorney Robert Luskin, who represented former President George W. Bush’s senior adviser Karl Rove in the Valerie Plame investigation, saying “There are folks who come to you because you have a certain expertise and folks who come to you because they have already figured out what they want and need, and they want to use you as a dinner fork.”

Instead, Trump has been forced to hire his longtime personal lawyer Marc Kasowitz who worked for Trump on the Trump University fraud case, among others.

Trump has also hired Jay Sekulow, who recently came under fire for a charity fraud scheme that included funneling millions of dollars in donations to himself and members of his family.
