Nancy Pelosi Has Raised $26 Million For Democrats This Year
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has raised $26 million for the Democratic Party so far this year, according to The Washington Post.
Nearly all the money has been transferred over to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The DCCC is leading the Democratic Party’s efforts to take back the Hosue in 2018.
Notably, Pelosi’s $26 million fundraising haul surpasses her tally in the last congressional “off year” of $14 million.
According to The Washington Post, Pelosi held 124 VIP events in 22 cities and raised $2 million from 115,000 small donors through a DCCC email campaign.
“Pelosi’s efforts have come as she has faced mounting criticism from a handful of her fellow Democrats who criticized the party’s inability to gain more than a handful of seats in last year’s House elections — a drumbeat that returned after Democrats didn’t win a closely watched and heavily contested special election in Georgia last month,” The Washington Post notes.
Pelosi’s fundraising haul is slightly behind Paul Ryan’s $33 million raised.
