John Kelly Called Comey After Firing, Considered Resigning: Report
Wonder what Donny will say when he hears about this.
The story of Donald Trump’s new chief of staff just got a whole lot more interesting.
John Kelly called James Comey after he was fired to express his frustration with the move, according to a new report by CNN.
Kelly also told Comey that he was considering resigning as Secretary of Homeland Security because of his frustrations with Trump’s firing of the FBI Director. Comey told Kelly not to resign.
One source told CNN, “John was angry and hurt by what he saw and the way (Comey) was treated.”
The two men have a “deep mutual respect for each other” but are not close friends, according to the report.
Donald Trump announced Kelly would be his new chief of staff via Twitter on Friday afternoon.
