Generals Made Secret Plan To Monitor Trump In Early Days Of Administration

Mattis and Kelly agreed on a secret plan to baby sit Donald Trump.

Some Trump defenders have highlighted the many former senior military officials who have joined the administration as a sort of grown up baby sitter check on Donald Trump’s impetuousness.

Well, according to a new report, that theory may not be too far off from reality.

The Associated Press is reporting that in the early days of the administration Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Former Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly – both generals – made a deal not to leave the country at the same time so that at least one of them could keep tabs on Donald Trump.

The Associated Press report also describes the deep frustrations that the two former generals had with Trump’s Muslim-ban.

“Kelly and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, another retired general, were also said to have been deeply frustrated with the rollout of Trump’s refugee and immigration ban, and made clear to associates that they were not involved in drafting it or aware of its details around the time that Trump signed the original order. Both moved swiftly to address gaps in the measure, with Mattis asking that Iraqis who helped U.S. troops be exempt and Kelly clarifying that green-card holders would not be affected,” The AP reported.

On Friday, Donald Trump announced via Twitter that Kelly would take over the position of chief of staff, replacing Reince Priebus.
