Trump Wants To Replace Preet Bharara With Giuliani Business Partner
We can all sleep easy knowing Rudy Giuliani’s buddy will be on the case.
Donald Trump is considering one of Rudy Giuliani’s law partners to replace Preet Bharara as U.S. Attorney in New York’s Southern District, a report by BuzzFeed News reported on Monday.
The Trump White House has reportedly identified Geoffrey Berman, a lawyer at the law firm Greenberg Traurig, where Trump insider Rudy Giuliani is a partner to be the U.S. Attorney in New York’s Southern District.
“Berman’s name was included as part of a package of proposed candidates for New York judicial and US attorney vacancies sent by the White House in mid-July to New York’s Democratic senators, according to a source familiar with the process. The list offers an early glimpse at the Trump administration’s strategy for filling vacancies in states with two Democratic senators,” BuzzFeed reported.
New York’s Southern District position is one of the most powerful U.S. Attorney positions because of its jurisdiction over New York City including Wall Street.
Prior to his firing Preet Bharara was thought to be investigating Trump and including health secretary Tom Price.
