Just two weeks ago, Donald Trump decided it would be a good idea to roll back regulations that require federal, state and local agencies to enhance flood protections to buildings, highways and other infrastructure.
Trump’s decision to roll back the Obama-era flood standards are juxtaposed with images of massive flooding in Houston.
The Federal Flood Risk Management Standard was originally signed by President Obama in 2015. At the time, Obama cited the increased risk of flooding caused by climate change.
Donald Trump has called climate change a Chinese hoax.
Climate scientists warn that the risk of flooding is rising dramatically due to climate change, making the risk of disasters like the one we see in Houston much more likely.
