Republicans Confirm Neil Gorsuch After Breaking Filibuster The Senate triggered the so-called “nuclear option” yesterday that allowed Republicans to break a Democratic filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch. And this morning, the Senate confirmed Neil Gorsuch in a 54 to 45 vote. Three Democratic senators – Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly of Indiana and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota – jumped over to the Republican side to vote yes on Gorsuch’s nomination.
