Trump Justice Department Is Actually Arguing Civil Rights Law Doesn’t Apply To Gays The Trump administration is conducting a massive legal assault on LGBTQ Americans.  The Trump Justice Department argued in a federal lawsuit on Wednesday that the 1964 Civil Rights Act does not protect gay people from discrimination in the workplace. Justice Department lawyers wrote in an amicus brief that the ban on sex discrimination does not include sexual orientation and that is up to Congress to alter the relevant provision of the 1964 law.
